details

In the foothills of Colorado, this main road serves as the quickest route along the west side of the county for travelers and emergency vehicles. The host pipe was a 12'x7' box culvert with limited flow, abrasive debris, and critical structural requirements.

problem

The box culvert had a sag in the middle, the road had a narrow shoulder that needed to be extended, and traffic couldn't be shutdown. The owner was yet to work with a technology that could meet the needs of this project.

solution

An 11'4"x6'4" Channeline was designed to meet the loading, flow, abrasion resistance, and structural requirements needed to widen the road. Although it was the contractor's first self-install, the liner was inserted within a couple hours on site. The next day, a snowstorm came through delaying the bulkheads and grouting process which was completed over the following two weeks.
