A 1950’s bridge was in question when the 85” irregularly shaped CMP was failing underneath.

Their failing culvert, a 36” CMP with dips to ~31” in height and a rusted invert was supporting County Road 74E.

Hundreds of cars were passing over the rusting culvert per hour, and the time to dig & replace would potentially interfere with ski traffic. As well as, the culvert was compressed & losing its structural integrity, and a lot of aquatic life pass through the culvert.

This means that the Idaho Transportation Department will consider all culvert rehab options to not close this highway for any length of time.

With a neighborhood roadway sinking a couple feet causing infiltration issues in the pipe, a Toronto suburb decided to seal two joints of a concrete pipe.

Throughout 2023, Tezak Heavy Equipment (now a part of Holcim US), has worked on the CDOT Region 2 Bridge Bundle project. Part of this project included lining 4, 65’ runs of ~10’x8’ concrete box culverts.

A 12-inch pipe was installed underground with the intention of being used, but it was never put into service. Fast forward to today, and a large Amazon facility is being constructed, necessitating the use of that pipe. When they tested it, the pipe failed to meet the pressure requirements.
