"MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — An emergency repair was performed after a water main break near 76th Avenue North and Briarwood Drive on Friday evening, according to the City of Myrtle Beach.

Officials said Public Works crews immediately responded and determined that the impacted utility was actually an eight-inch sewer force main, not a water line.

The break was caused by "stump-pulling activities" at a nearby construction site. Other underground utilities, including HTC, were also affected.

At 8:20 p.m., Verizon and DC Blox were out of service due to the break.

The Myrtle Beach Public Works Team completed the repair at 10 p.m. Friday.

It was determined that leakage from the damaged sewer force main entered a nearby storm drain and the pond system at Seville Drive.

The area was disinfected and has returned to normal activities. No additional monitoring is required."
