details

With only manhole access in the street and backyard of a Washington residence, the owner had limited options.

problem

A sinkhole formed in the mulch bed and upon further inspection, the CMP was in poor condition, nearing the end of its design life. With the pipe going from the street, under the garden, under the fence along the property line, and eventually reaching a manhole in the neighbor's backyard, they needed to act quick while minimizing the disturbance.

solution

The owner self-installed 132' of 22" OD Thread Liner in 3' sections. Each 3' stick was lowered into the manhole, threaded together, and pulled through with a winch that was connected to the bullet nose on the front section of liner. Within a couple days, the first time installers were finished lining the pipe and it was time to build bulkheads and grout the annular space.
